Video games are considered as entertainment or even as a waste of time, for those who do not enjoy it at all. However, different studies reveal how the games turn out to be beneficial to health, from helping with aches to making you smarter as long as it is played moderately of course.
The following are some of the benefits that video games cause health:

Video games reduce aging

Play challenging brain games for at least two hours a week can slow the aging of the brain, associated with the natural age of the same. A study conducted by University of Iowa that involved 681 people over age 50 showed that playing 10 hours of a specialized video game helped reduce wear on the brain by an equivalent of up to 7 years in some cases.
By challenging the brain to various tasks, it has the same effect on the brain as an exercise to the muscles of the body, helping to reduce wear and other mental diseases associated with aging.

Helps dyslexic children read better

A study by the University of Padua presented evidence that rapid and moving video games can help in the reading of children with dyslexia. To test this the game Rayman Raving Rabbids and a game with slow gameplay were used. After playing, reading skills of children were tested, discovering that children who played Rayman had a better result. The scientists conclude that playing action video games is beneficial in improving child"s visual acuity, a crucial skill for reading.

Games improve brain"s visual processing

By playing first person shooting games, our ability to distinguish between different brightness will enhance. It is considered one of the most important visual skills used when we drive at night. Experts believe that the process of locating and targeting enemies helps exercise the eyes of the players, it also improves the ability to process data visually.

Helps reduce pain

Researchers have presented evidence that video games, especially those with emphasis on virtual reality, have been effective in reducing anxiety and pain caused by chronic illness or a medical procedure. The study showed that people with diseases such as cancer show less stress and fear induced in a virtual reality video game, likewise, people treated for burns noticed a reduction in pain from 30% to 50%.

The cause of this phenomena is the brain is engaged in other sense rather than focusing on the pain, and playing releases endorphins in the brain, a chemical usually associated with happiness and helps patients to reduce discomfort.

Improve various aspects of the brain

To better understand how the brain works, a study put 23 adults 25 years to play Super Mario 64 for 30 minutes a day on a course of two months, and a group that would not play games at all. Examining the brains of the two groups using magnetic resonance imaging, found that people players increased their gray matter in the right hippocampus, right prefrontal cortex and cerebellum, responsible for spatial navigation areas, memory formation, strategic planning and hand-eye relationship.
It is expected that video games can be used as treatments for patients with mental disorders that cause reduction of brain regions, such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer"s.

Those who have played games from childhood can realize the benefits they have brought. Whether the time to concentrate on looking for something or coordinate their movements in complicated situations.

And while not everyone can benefit in the same way with video games, because every brain is different, these studies show that video games are not just for entertainment.
