"If only you had time for writing Mama Myrtle! If only you had!"
Pleas such as this poured in by the hundreds during me lifetime of Myrtle Fillmore, cofounder with Charles Fillmore of Unity School of Christianity.
People all over the world wanted to know more about her life, and about the work she was doing, but she was reluctant to share such personal information. When she was asked to write her memoirs, for example, she declared: "We have never cared to interest folks in our individual lives. It makes no difference who we are or what we have done. What is important is that we are doing what the Father has given us to do, according to our best light."
Mrs. Fillmore occasionally wavered a bit and said that someday she might write about her life and her work with Unity, but that if she did not get around to it Spirit would see to it that someone else would do it, if it needed to be done.
"There is no hurry," she would say. "There is all of eternity you know. There is a great deal in my heart, but it comes to me that I should make the Truths of living now rather than write about them. Sometimes I long to put into print the beautiful things which fill me. But I am not anxious about it!"
